WHO ARE WE?
From the rich medieval history of the city of Diest grew the idea for 'De Heeren van Diest',
a re-enactment group focused on the second half of the 15th century (1450-1480), within the context of nobility from the Duchy of Brabant (Diest) under Burgundian rule.

With 'De Heeren van Diest' we want to share this interesting history with the world and seek to actively experience this period ourselves.
Following this, we try to recreate the medieval life of the late 15th century as correctly as possible, from our clothing to our tents, from our weapons and equipment to our utensils.

Historical research is very important here, and each groupmember will get the needed help on their own critical search for information. Of course we are very understanding of the individual possibilities of each member, without losing sight of the financial picture.
In addition, at the medieval events, we also participate in medieval battles, where we fight with blunt weapons in historically correct equipment (with modern concessions regarding protection for vulnerable body parts). For this reason, our members are trained in the handling of weapons, endurance and fighting techniques, see 'H.E.M.A.' in the menu at the top.

Above all we strive to form a close group of friends, helping each other and striving to establish a historically accurate representation of our time period, social standing and context. The current group is composed of about fifteen members, headed by a captain/trainer.

We strive to create an open and respectful environment for all members, see also our 'Code of Conduct'.
