H.E.M.A.

ABOUT

To prepare for the historical battles, weekly training sessions were organized at 'De Heeren van Diest',

aiming to teach all members of the group how to use medieval weapons and fighting techniques responsibly.

Due to the evolution within the content of our training, 'De Heeren van Diest' has become a full-fledged H.E.M.A.* -group since 2024. Within this context, members are introduced to the sportive aspect of the hobby.

Depending on the members present at each individual training, a topic is chosen for each training session.

An average training session lasts two hours, containing 1/3 fitness and strength training, 1/3 techniques, and 1/3 sparring. Depending on the progress of the training, this can vary.

To supplement the training sessions, group participation in workshops and refresher courses are organised when possible.

TECHNIQUES

- Unarmed fighting (wrestling/abrazare/ringen)

- Dagger

- Longsword

- Dussack

- Poleaxe

- Harnischfechten
